Over the last 19 years, Brother Ted Cooper, a member from South Carolina, has been leading mission ministry trips to Peru. What began as a heart to serve and be a blessing has become an investment of a life in missions.
One such investment is witnessed from Piura, in northern Peru. In May of this year, Brother Ted visited the different projects that have been growing there with his support. Our church family is very grateful for the support and influence they feel from Brother Ted and the teams he has brought to this area to assist in several church construction projects.
Testimonies continue to come from the camp construction project that has been built and continues to receive updates and needed buildings. This summer, a floor was added to the future place for children. Currently, a new sports complex is being built on the property. At the last meeting there, Brother Ted and a mission team celebrated with over 2,000 people.
Brother Ted has also been involved in ministry in the Rio Seco prison. Pastor Hernan Vera testified that during his last visit there, the prisoners were very encouraged, with 15 Christians baptized. Currently, we are organizing a new mission church inside the prison with 25 members and 158 brothers.
Pastor David Rosa More, serving under Bishop Rafael Alvino and recently appointed regional supervisor of south Peru, shares the additional blessing Brother Ted has been concerning investment in ministry training. In an effort to serve, Brother Ted provided for the enrollment of 20 pastors and workers in the Bible college in Arequipa in south Peru. This has not been his first effort in ministry education and training in Peru, as he has previously assisted 30 pastors and 30 youth in Piura. This has proven to be a great blessing for the Church of God of Prophecy in Peru.
Brother Ted has also helped purchase 14 acres of land near Las Vegas, Peru. One team traveling in from Dixon, Tennessee, began the process of building a chapel on this property.
